1) Avoid constantly drifting in and out of progress and get continued progression by getting real-time feedback on the guitar.
A video can’t tell you how you’re doing. Skip the steps of endless Youtube-ing for the information you want. Skip the unlearning bad habits by letting someone introduce you to new songs/ideas that will help you be the player you want to be.
2) Learn to be more expressive with your playing by having a good foundation of music and technique that translates to all styles of music.
All this leads to self-expression: self expression is what reaches out, grabs your audience and brings them into your playing.
3) Gain consistent motivation and encouragement in your guitar journey by opening yourself to fresh and inspiring perspectives.
Having someone to keep you accountable throughout the process is essential towards upward progress.
Since playing professionally, music has taken me all over the US, like playing Austin City Limits, The Lyric Oxford and The Hard Rock Casino in MS and The Chance Theater in NY. In 2019, I performed for many companies like Spotify and Ford and played in Costa Rica in early 2020. After 12 years of experience playing a variety of styles like pop, R&B/soul, rock, country and blues, I really want to pass on what I’ve learned.
After graduating music school in 2013, I’ve gained 7 years in the music industry and moved to Nashville in 2016. Since moving the Nashville, I’ve had the opportunity to share the stage with: Victor Wooten, Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band), Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers, Clapton), Bob Francheschini (J-Lo, Paul Simon), these opportunities came out of his camp and later I’d be mentored by Victor and his brother, Regi Wooten in private lessons.
Spending time with them has dramatically changed the way I look at and teach music. Learning to explain concepts like being a “natural”, playing with “feel/feeling” and simplicity were the most powerful concepts that I learned from them.
I would love to transfer those valuable lessons to you.
